Alan Frosh is the Founder and Managing Director of SECTOR. As a sixth-generation Denver native, Alan has spent his entire career serving his community, as a philanthropic advisor, civic investor, small business executive, and active volunteer.
Before founding SECTOR, Alan served as the founding Denver Market Director for Notley Ventures, a family office catalyzing social innovation through the marriage of impact and profit. Bringing together the city’s foundations, private businesses and public entities, Alan raised money to support three Changemakers, nonprofit executives making immense impact on Denver’s future, in addition to identifying and evaluating private companies for venture capital investment.
Before joining Notley, Alan led the acquisition of Tattered Cover Book Store, Denver’s iconic independent bookstore and one of the city’s most prominent small businesses, during the pandemic. With two partners and an investor group comprised of Denver’s industry leaders, Alan raised capital necessary to revitalize the chain’s operations, re-engage in community activity, and refresh its business model, then led the staff as Chief Community Officer and primary administrator. While Barnes & Noble purchased the store in 2024, Alan remains supportive of the brand’s new direction, continuing a decades-long relationship with one of Denver’s crown jewels.
Before law school, Alan served as Program Associate and Senior Fellow at El Pomar Foundation, where he directed several programs and managed the foundation’s grantmaking in Colorado’s High Country Region. During his Fellowship, Alan founded Frosh Philanthropy Partners, a multi-service advisory firm focused on creating philanthropic legacy and maximizing impact for families and small businesses.
Alan is a proud three-time alumnus of the University of Denver, maintaining connection to his hometown. While earning a Bachelor’s Degree and as a member of the Pioneer Leadership Program, Alan continued his service to the city’s nonprofit sector, working in fundraising at Young Americans Center for Financial Education, one of the country’s most innovative and unique nonprofit organizations. Alan graduated from the University’s Sturm College of Law, with an emphasis on corporate and commercial law, after finishing the four-year part-time program in three years and serving on the Student Bar Association Senate. Lastly, Alan returned to the University to join the Daniels College of Business’ inaugural MBA@Denver cohort, graduating with a concentration in Finance.
Alan commits his time, talent and treasure to his community beyond his professional work, serving on many nonprofit boards and advocating for causes close to his heart. Most recently, Alan served on the Finance Committee for Denver Mayor Mike Johnston’s campaign and on the Mayor’s transition team. In 2021, Colorado Governor Jared Polis selected Alan to serve as a Colorado Governor’s Fellow, one of the state’s most prominent leadership programs, and in 2018, the Anti-Defamation League awarded Alan its Daniel R. Ginsberg Leadership Award, “in recognition of exemplary leadership” as a young professional. In 2014, Alan celebrated his 30th birthday with the “Charity Thirty” campaign, raising money for six Denver-area nonprofit organizations.
